124. window light

March 24, 2013 by Simon Wallerstedt

Here’s a portrait of my grandfather. Shot using window light with a Canon 5D Mk II and a 100mm f/2 lens. I had Kristina hold the black side of a reflector behind him to get a clean background. I used an aperture of f/3.2 and shot really close to get this nice shallow depth of field, and bring the attention to his eyes.

103. fur

October 28, 2012 by Simon Wallerstedt

As you’ve probably noticed I’ve updated the design on the blog. I’d grown tired of the old design and felt it was time for something new. Please let me know what you think!

102. plane crash

October 25, 2012 by Simon Wallerstedt

I’m really into color photography at the moment. Been shooting exclusively digital lately, shame on me…

101. two of a kind

October 22, 2012 by Simon Wallerstedt

Backs are, more often than not, a pretty boring photographic subject. However, I still found this rather amusing…

100. something different

October 19, 2012 by Simon Wallerstedt

For my 100th post I thought I’d do something different than usual, and post a few digital color photographs. These pictures are taken with an Olympus E-P3 with a 17mm lens (equivalent of 34mm). I’ve shot some color film before, but I never really liked the results I got from it. At least not from negative film, and slide film is too expensive. The idea is that my color work will be mostly digital from now on. When it comes […]

98. no title

October 11, 2012 by Simon Wallerstedt

I still haven’t scanned anything I’ve shot with the 90mm. Maybe tomorrow… So in the meantime, here’s a recent picture taken with a 28mm on the Contax G1.

97. back on track

October 8, 2012 by Simon Wallerstedt

As I said in my last post, I’ve been in a creative rut lately. As you’ve probably noticed, this blog has also suffered from it. It’s been very frustrating and depressing, but I think I’m starting to emerge from it. I’ve been shooting with a 90mm lens on my Contax G1 for the last few rolls. It’s very different from the 28mm I usually use. You’ll see some results soon, I haven’t scanned anything yet. The picture in this post […]

72. big mini

July 9, 2012 by Simon Wallerstedt

My favorite compact camera, the Konica Big Mini, sadly seems to be ready for retirement. It’s tired.. Very tired. Don’t know why, but it’s not the battery. Now I need to find a replacement. The Big Mini is a fantastic little camera with a really sharp 35mm lens. I’m looking for something similar. Time to start searching. Konica Big Mini (35mm f3.5). Kodak Tmax 100, developed in D76 1+1.

63. what makes a good street photo?

June 11, 2012 by Simon Wallerstedt

Is it the “decisive moment”? The composition? Or is it something else? Take this photograph for example. I like it because of the moment captured. The girl jumping down the stairs with an umbrella and caught in mid-air. I also like how the face of the girl to the left is just barely visible behind the leaves. The composition is alright but it could’ve been a lot better. I would’ve liked to get closer to the scene with a wide-angle […]

60. back on the street

June 4, 2012 by Simon Wallerstedt

I haven’t really done much street shooting lately. That’s gotta change! Konica T3 with Hexar 28mm f3.5. Kodak Tmax 400, developed in Xtol 1+1.
